This was like 2001: a space odyssey but it forgot to be interesting and original. The singing (other than childish gambino) was trash. Like my entire childhood was that easily gunned just because of how shit it is. And I hate how they try reinterpreting a lot of stuff like mufasa’s death scene. The fact that I had to sit in that theatre and laugh like I was some ape tells you something about that one scene alone. It is a visual mess that makes you want to will make you regret not being a blanket. Truly disgusted by the lack of ingenuity, voice projection and really the fact that Disney is just constantly wasting our time and money. I give the film a -1/10 possibly maybe lower.

Horrible. I couldn’t sit still for a single scene, kept skipping to the next, and in the end, turned it off. I put aside the English version, as I didn’t care for James Earl Jones’ return -while all other characters were boldly replaced with worse performances- and Beyoncé’s involvement. My white pet cat is more African than her. So, I checked out our own dub, since our original Lion King production was extremely well-cast. During the Disney renaissance, we had a voice director who wouldn’t stop until every little detail was perfect, and it showed. I hoped for something similar here, but we were given table scraps pretending to be voice actors. They didn’t care. The child actors alone.. awful. Our Lion King 2, a “quick” direct-to-video Disney sequel mind you, had fantastic child voice actors, what the snap is this..?! Timon and Pumbaa were the most tolerable, and it seems many people say this about the English dub as well. It didn’t help that the dialogue came from the static faces of animal creatures that had no reason to be computer animated. Millions have been pumped into this soulless remake for no reason, though we can’t say this movie didn’t earn Disney a good buck. Thank you for enabling them further, audience, damnit.

Like Favreau’s previous live action remake, The Jungle Book, the special effects absolutely dazzle.. but in an attempt to recreate the original nearly shot for shot, the film comes up empty in the heart department. The voice actors seem bored..and the remakes of the classic songs are almost insultingly bad..wasting the caliber of musical talent involved (knowles, glover.) Disney’s recipe for success in these remakes has gone from effective (see aforementioned Jungle Book, Cinderella) to unnecessary (Beauty and the Beast, Maleficent, Aladdin, and now this.) time to get back to original stories and leave the classics in the vault.

Overall, I am one of those people who is slightly disappointed by this remake, especially by the lack of emotions coming from our leading characters. The film realistically doesn’t offer anything new or exciting as a plot. The reasons for watching this version of the film are simply for those who wish to go down memory lane or perhaps for those who wish to introduce the touching story to a new young generation. 5.8/10 – Walkden Entertainment

If I could give this version 0 stars I would the lion king 2019 I hate it so much even though the lion king (1994) was released 3 years before I was born it was & always will be my favorite movie of all time. For one of my college classes assignments I am even writing a short screenplay prequel of the original one. The only thing that I can say was good about the the 2019 version is that James earl jones was back to play mufasa.

The graphics are incredible! Terrible casting and directing! The original had so much amazing emotion that these folks could just not capture. Very unfortunate.

Pales compared to the old one but for those who never saw the old one this could be almost as good.

My only description for the most recent Lion King is that it was a disgrace to the previous works involving Mufasa and Simba. Scar himself would have jumped off a cliff had he watched this film. The screenplay disrespected the best scenes and songs of the movie and took the heart and soul right out of it. Timon and Pumba didn’t even get to sing to the hyenas. I am struggling to even write a review so I’ll stop now. Absolutely rotten. Horrible.

This was an amazing movie although the characters did not have the same voices. It kind of ruined it for me being huge fan of all the older Disney movies we used to watch growing up it just doesn’t compare although I did love the realistic animation.
